| Handcrafted walking sticks - made in Galloway from locally sourced sustainable products by a man born and bred on this land. |
| Robert Anderson crafts his wide range of walking sticks and shepherds crooks in his shed. His tools are basic and many have been created by him as he says "just when I needed something that would do the job that I wanted". | | The sticks all have hazel shafts from sustainable sources in Galloway. The handles come in wood and animal horn that has been naturally cast by the beast. | Who would dream that a walking stick made in Galloway would be made of Water Buffallo horn? Better still who would believe that the beasts live in Galloway? Well it's true - on a wee farm near Newton Stewart. | Deer horn is gathered from the woods in the local area and crafted together with Buffallo and cow horn to highlight areas on some handles. | Ask how long does it take to make a stick? The answer " Aye well, as lang as it takes to get it right". In truth it takes about 8 hours just to bend the handle into its shape - then it has to be crafted to fit the hand, filed, smoothed and polished. The hazel shafts, selected for the job that each stick will do, is prepared and added before the complete thing is finished with hard wearing varnish. The whole stick takes upwards of 30 hours. | | These are natural products that should last a lifetime and beyond. | They can be ordered direct and to suit your needs on 01556 611525 (please be aware that Robert has sometimes difficulty communicating due to a past illness.
