Janet O'Donnell - ODdesigns PDF Print E-mail

odDesignsLiving in a beautiful area of Scotland Janet can’t help but be influenced by what she sees around her incorporating the colours of the landscape into her textiles and making jewellery from the local beach stones and sea-glass.

The name ODdesigns not only incorporates her surname but reflects her love of the unusual and unique.

Janet will be opening her studio between 24th and 26th May as part of Spring Fling 2008.

painted ScarfJanet is strongly influenced by her surroundings in beautiful Dumfries and Galloway where she now lives and works. Time spent in Australia and America has also allowed her to draw on inspirations from both of these cultures.

Her textiles utilise techniques such as weaving, knitting and sewing and because she wants the colour and texture to predominate she keeps to simple structures like scarves and wraps.
In her jewellery she mixes the elegance of silver with the natural beauty of  beach pebbles and sea-glass to create unique necklaces and earrings.
The photographs used  for her cards show the landscape at dawn and sunset, in winter and spring, in close up and far distant, but always with the artist’s eye  in evidence
