In the village a group interested in gardens and gardening formed a club in the early 1990s. The meetings are held monthly from September until April at 7.30pm on the third Tuesday of each month in the home of the chairman. This is followed by an informal tea at which members can discuss the topic of the talk amongst themselves or with the speaker. It is also a time for relaxed conversation.Of the eight meetings the club generally has, six guest speakers or videos are used to illustrate gardening in other countries or locations. Amongst the most popular meetings are those where there are demonstrations ranging from the preparation of hanging baskets to 'How to take cuttings.' We also have a 'Gardeners Questions' session with an expert panel.

Winter meetings are held at Larchwood, Auchencairn, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbrightshire DG7 1RW.
During the summer months there are visits to local gardens and plant exchanges amongst the members. At that time of year these are limited as most members are kept sufficiently busy in maintaining their own gardens.
