Description of Work | My workshop, which is in fact the old village school room, is situated in Main Street, Auchencairn at its junction with Spout Row. There is normally a stack of willow or hazel seasoning outside. These are the main materials that I use to work with and is grown in my nearby willow beds or harvested from the surrounding countryside. This allows me to be very selective with the natural shades and textures produced and incorporated into my designs to create works that have both strength and enduring appeal. I make larke scale figurative willow sculptures for festivals, performance events and public artworks - ofetn involving fire! I also make smaller scale sculptures for gardens as well as willowarbour seats, domes, tunnels and other 'living ' structures that can become a great feature for school environmental projects. At various times throughout the year I have a wide range of traditional and contemporary baskets, hampers, creels, trugs and platters in the workshop and local galleries. I also welcome commissions. | | Recent works | 2007 - Family of deer - private commission for Troquair House
